(1) Did anyone seriously think they wouldn’t mangle the skate Kucherov is wearing with brutal retail graphics?
(2) Hopefully they start offering the new “shadow” option on custom wheels too.
1. Was definitely counting on it.
2. Started hoping for it as soon as the shadow stick option was announced.
The name is like a knock-off Oasis reference. The graphics package looks low end as well. Even worse than I had imagined they could come up with.
Edit: what's with the triangular notches in the facing in front of (at least) the top two eyelets?

I was thinking the same thing. The name in particular reminds me of a low-end SMU.
Also, I don't know jack about skates, but if I had to guess, it looks like there's less material in those "triangles". Maybe to aid compression during forward flex?

That was my guess about the triangles too. If that’s the case I imagine it being hated rather than loved. A lot of people hate their skates softening up around the ankle.

It could also be a heel cupping outsole, which is my bet. It looks too bulged compared to the quarters for me to think it's an outsole+quarter shell. Instead, it looks a lot like how previous Bauer skates have been made, just with a souped-up outsole. My guess is this is their attempt to maximize torsional rigidity in the boot without having to resort to making a monoshell. That way, Bauer's still Bauer, without admitting that they're not top shelf stuff.
The best shot I've seen so far:
