So, first, my thoughts on the sale:
(Selection)
There was a ton of stuff to pick from if you were looking for gloves, skates, or sticks. There was plenty of named-player gloves and skates to choose from (the name on it definitely affected the price, the more high-profile the player, the higher the price tag (and those price tags got pretty high for guys like Crosby and Malkin). There was a bunch of stuff that I had never seen on eBay from Double Deke (Including a surprise pickup I was able to get). There were a ton of new sticks from guys that have been traded in the past few years. There was plenty of goalie gear, but I really did not look at all because I was not interested in it. There was a bag of CCM and Reebok shells as well as a box of random team swag (shorts, polos, single socks, etc.)
(Prices)
Team stock stuff was the buy-of-the-day. CCM & Reebok (New) team stock gloves were priced at $100 per pair, and stock skates (new) were going for $400(ish) brand new (Bauer TotalOne NXG). Again, anything with a big-ticket player’s name attached to it reflected the price. There were gloves and skates in the $400-500 price range for guys like Malkin, Crosby, Letang, Iginla, etc.
There was no new retro gear (except Fleury’s gold pads), and practice jerseys were in with the game-worn jersey sale (very pricey). The only 3.0 practice jersey I was was #87’s and it was $2,500+
There was hardly anyone at the sale. Louie, my brother, and I had free-reign of the place for the first hour or so. The fact there was a Pirates’ (baseball) game in the city at the same time probably hurt the numbers at the sale. They were expecting more people after the game ended. This was nice as I was able to negotiate prices a bit on my two big-ticket items.
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR WINTER CLASSIC (2011) EDGE GAME SOCKS CONTACT LOUIE!!!
My Pickups:
Stadium Series CCM Pant Shell (New):
Stadium Series and 2011 Winter Classic Game Socks (New):
Sublimated Kovalev AK27 Gloves (2011 Winter Classic Colors):
And, my favorite, because I do not think anyone knew these existed in the wild...
Sublimated Kovalev AK27 Gloves (Regular Uniforms):
I'm guess Kovalev is pretty easy on his gloves (Not to mention he was not with the team too long in 2011) because both pairs may as well be new.
Definitely was a fun experience.
